In Newfoundland and Labrador, trigger mitts are designed to allow you to freely use your thumb and index finger, making them practical for outdoor work in cold weather. Double knit for warmth and durability, the two contrasting yarn colours evolved into the diamond, wave and striped patterns characteristic of these mittens. As our 2024 Christmas 'Round the Harbour series pattern, this quilt features six blocks inspired by these stitch patterns, the hands of the knitters that made them, and the hard work of the wearers. The pattern is leveled as intermediate, although could be tackled by a very confident beginner. The quilt finishes at 74" x 94".
